He won the League Cup with both Aston Villa and Middlesbrough (in 1995–96 and 2003–04 respectively, and as captain), and captained Crystal Palace to win the First Division championship in 1993–94. He also reached an FA Cup and UEFA Cup final as a player, and made 57 appearances for the England national team, featuring in the 1998 FIFA World Cup and both the 1996 and 2000 European Championships.

Kit

The England kit changes from year to year. In 2018 England men’s seniors will wear the new kit for the first time on home soil when they play Italy at Wembley on Tuesday 27 March. The kit has been designed by Nike. The new kit went on sale at the end of March if you want a new shirt in time for the World Cup.

Home kit
This classic look, white shirt, blue shorts and white socks, is accented by red trimming. The modern rib collar is backed by a small St. George’s Cross and a blue Swoosh on the chest that complements the famous Three Lions crest in its traditional colors. A star heralding English football’s greatest triumph sits above the crest in silver, completing the streamlined look.

Away kit
A two-tone red (a colour that was immortalised in 1966) grounds the kit. The body of the shirt is dominated by a tonal graphic that depicts a modern St. George’s Cross. White shorts with a pure white Swoosh and England crest and red socks finish the look.
